오늘은 뉴질랜드 교육진흥청에서 발표한 뉴질랜드 COVID-19 유학생 지원펀드 International Student Hardship Fund 에 대해 안내해 드릴까 합니다.
뉴질랜드 정부는 유학생을 받고 있는 뉴질랜드 학교들과 뉴질랜드 학교에 재학중인 유학생들의 코로나와 관련된 일시적인 어려움을 해소하도록 지원하고자 “International Student Hardship Fund” 를 출범시켰습니다.
유학생을 받고있는 각 학교에서 뉴질랜드교육진흥청(Education New Zealand)를 통해 최대 20,000 달러까지 신청가능하며 이 지원금으로 각 학교는 재학중인 지원급 수급 자격이 있는 유학생에게 최대 1,000달러 까지 지원할수있습니다. 이것은 한번만 지급되는 것이고 수급 자격이 있는 유학생만 신청가능함을 참고해 주시기 바랍니다.
신청자격 및 부적격 기준은 아래와 같습니다.
현재 뉴질랜드에 있어야 하며 2020년 3월 23일 기준으로 뉴질랜드에서 유학생으로 재학중인 학생이 주 대상입니다. 이 펀드는 오직 유학생들만 신청가능한 지원금으로 부적격 기준은 국내학생과 같은 학비 혜택을 받고 있는 박사과정학생(박사과정학생은 내국학생 지원펀드 신청가능)이나 3월 23일자를 기준으로 뉴질랜드 학교에 재학중이지 않은 학생은 대상에서 제외되며 기타 정부장학금을 받고 뉴질랜드에서 유학중인 학생도 대상에서 제외됩니다.
유학생들이 정말 이 지원금이 필요한지 여부에 대한 결정은 유학생이 재학중인 학교의 재량입니다. 자세한 사항은 각 학교 담당자에게 문의하시기 바랍니다.
What can grants be used for?
The grants may be used to:
– scale up existing student hardship initiatives
– support eligible students through:
- Direct cash grants
- The purchase of resources on behalf of international students, such as food parcels, where this is appropriate.
– The maximum amount that can be applied for is up to $1,000 per international student your organisation is supporting.
– Funds may not be used for:
- Salaries or staff administration costs
- Funding for flights home
- Tuition fees
- Granting individual students support of more than $1,000 in cash or kind.
Which students are eligible for support?
– Grants can only be used to provide support to eligible students.
– An eligible student is:
- A current fee-paying international student, or enrolled as a fee-paying international student as at 23 March
- Currently in New Zealand
- In genuine, temporary hardship
- Not eligible for other government financial support.
– International PhD students paying domestic fees are eligible for the government’s domestic student hardship fund and should be encouraged to seek help from that scheme in the first instance.
